I have been coaching boys’ soccer for 27 years across the college, club, and high school levels. Throughout my coaching career, I have had the opportunity to lead and work with teams that have won regional championships and competed in national playoffs at the collegiate level, captured numerous CIF and league championships at the high school level, and won a State Cup championship in club soccer.
I have been fortunate to coach young men who have gone on to play professionally, as well as many others who have continued their careers in college soccer at every level. It has also been rewarding to see a number of former players become successful coaches and pass their knowledge and passion for the game on to the next generation.
For the past 26 years, I have taught at San Pasqual High School in Escondido, where I am also a member of the boys’ soccer coaching staff. My experience has reinforced my belief that coaching is about much more than what happens on the field.
While I am proud of the championships and accomplishments of the teams I have coached, they are not what I value most. What I am most proud of is seeing former players grow into successful men, fathers, and positive members of their communities. My goal as a coach is to help develop not only better soccer players, but young men who are prepared for success long after their playing careers are over.
